Production of Egils Maltextrakt began in 1913, the year in which the Althingi approved that women be given the right to vote.

Since then, Icelanders, women as well as men, have chosen to drink Egil's Malt - either alone or mixed with Egil's Appelsín.

Maltextrakt is a sweet non-alcoholic beer that is brewed from malt like other beers but with added sugar and licorice.
